Georgia Trooper Almost PITs A Suspect Into Oncoming Traffic

Estimated read time 2 min read

Police PIT maneuvers are inherently dangerous with so many things which can go wrong. One of them is pushing a suspect vehicle into oncoming traffic, something we have seen before and that can end quite badly. A Georgia State Patrol trooper almost did that to a kid fleeing in a Nissan Murano and the pucker factor in the dashcam footage is enough to make anyone squirm.

Watch an Arkansas trooper take down a fleeing Dodge Scat Pack.

The trooper says he originally zeroed in on the Nissan when he saw it improperly passing other vehicles, going over the gore point in the road, and even driving into the oncoming lanes of traffic. After the trooper catches in the dashcam footage, the driver stops in a turn lane to a retail area.

That’s when the trooper asks the young suspect to pull into the parking lot, a much safer place to stop for a cop. But the kid decides to just take off instead. He must have quite the confidence in the grocery getter’s performance chops and his driving skills.

Our suspect really pushes the Murano hard, until another car turns left and joins his lane of travel going the actual speed limit instead of the breakneck pace he was doing. Instead of just blasting around that car, something he had no problem with before the trooper pulled him over, the kid slows way down.

Did he start having second thoughts about fleeing from the trooper? Was he scared about passing on the hill? Was he busy recording a TikTok? We might never know the answer.

Instead of wondering at the sudden change of pace, the trooper just goes in for the kill. He wastes no time in catching the rear quarter panel of the crossover with his push bar, rotating it to the left and across the opposing lane of traffic.

There is a Code Brown moment as an oncoming pickup truck almost slams into the Nissan and cruiser head-on, but thankfully the guy misses. We really question if that guy in the truck had clean pants after that.
