C8 Corvette Takes A Ride On A Boat In Guatemala

Estimated read time 2 min read

A video of a Torch Red C8 Corvette being transported down a river by boat in Guatemala has been making the rounds lately. It’s understandable why since the boat is small and made of wood, not some large ferry or transport ship. It’s just shocking to see such a technologically advanced, mid-engine sports car transported like that.

Learn how a would-be C8 Corvette thief got trapped instead.

Having traveled through and even lived in third world countries, we know the infrastructure isn’t what Americans are used to. However, usually when we see modern vehicles being taken down a river or across a lake on a wooden boat like this, it’s some overlanders with their off-road rigs, not a shiny, low-slung performance car.

First of all, we want to know how the C8 Corvette was driven onto the boat since it would get hung up on quite a few ramps. After all, on steeper driveway curtains they can get a little stuck.

We would seriously pay money to see how the Chevy was driven onto and off of one of these boats. If nothing else it would be entertaining, possibly educational, and perhaps even make us cringe a little.

That’s especially true since in areas where there aren’t sufficient bridges, roads, and other infrastructure a C8 Corvette, just like a Ferrari or McLaren, is going to be a rare sight. After all, where would one even drive such a vehicle?

Also, where did the ‘Vette come from? What is it doing in Guatemala? Was it imported by an American who retired to Antigua or somewhere like that? Or did a Guatemalan strike it rich and decided to get a mid-engine sports car, not thinking about driving it around the country?

We don’t think we’ll ever find out the story behind this C8 Corvette and that’s too bad.
