Thieves want your car, especially if you own a Hellcat, something an Alabama couple found out the hard way. After their Dodge Charger Hellcat was stolen, it was found just 36 hours later, or at least pieces of it were along with some parts from a black Hellcat. What a sad fate.

In other words, after thieves took the Mopar muscle car, it went straight to a chop shop and was quickly dismantled for the valuable parts. They didn’t even keep the frame intact, cutting that up, presumably to sell parts of it as well.
We’d love to say we’re shocked by this, but we really aren’t. Unfortunately, Hellcats are hot theft items and owners need to take that into account. Not doing anything extra to secure such a vehicle means you’re just waiting for when, not if, the muscle car gets stolen.
In this case, had the couple put a tracking device or two on the Hellcat, they could’ve at least led authorities to the chop shop. While not true this time, other times thieves will park a stolen vehicle for a day or a few in a public space to see if you come and get it, avoiding having cops show up at their chop shop.
Even better, there are security devices which keep thieves from reprogramming the ignition for a new key fob, a common tactic criminals use to steal Mopars. If you haven’t looked into these devices, of which there are an array of options, we suggest you start doing some homework.
It sounds like this Dodge Hellcat was parked outside overnight. We don’t care if you live in the nicest, safest neighborhood in the world, never leave a Hellcat out at night. We wouldn’t even really leave ours outside during the daytime. Parking it in a garage not only makes it a little more secure, it keeps the muscle car out of sight so thieves might not even realize it’s there.
