In Craig, Colorado, deputies responding to complaints about a woman asking customers for money uncovered something far more serious — a suspected cross-country crime spree involving a stolen luxury sports car, drugs, and a diary that may have sealed the suspects’ fate.
At first glance, the situation didn’t raise major alarms. A young woman was reportedly approaching shoppers outside a City Market, asking for help. That’s not uncommon in many parts of the country, and the responding officer initially treated it that way. The woman claimed she was struggling and trying to get back home, a story that even prompted the deputy to hand her a few dollars.
But within minutes, everything changed.
