A 31-year-old man is facing a list of charges after police say he was caught performing dangerous stunts in downtown Atlanta with a child sitting beside him.
According to Atlanta police, the incident happened around 2 a.m. on June 7, when an officer spotted a car “laying drag” — spinning donuts and doing burnouts — at an intersection along Edgewood Avenue SE. Officers pulled the vehicle over and quickly noticed something alarming: a child in the front passenger seat.

Body camera footage from the stop shows the driver, later identified as 31-year-old Alexander Parrott, speaking with police. When confronted about the danger, Parrott allegedly tried to downplay the situation, telling the officer, “But he had his seatbelt on.”
Investigators said Parrott, who is related to the child, was arrested on the spot. He now faces multiple charges, including reckless driving, obstruction, laying drag, operating a vehicle with a modified exhaust and altered suspension, impeding traffic, and failure to maintain lane.
Police emphasized the risk of the late-night incident, noting that street stunts are not only illegal but can have devastating consequences, especially with children involved. “It’s one thing to endanger yourself,” one officer said after the arrest. “But when you put a kid in the car, that crosses the line.”
Atlanta has been grappling with an uptick in reckless driving and illegal street racing in recent years, prompting officials to crack down on offenders with stricter enforcement and tougher penalties.
The child was safely removed from the vehicle during the stop. Authorities did not release further details about custody arrangements, but they confirmed the child was not harmed.
