A California dad with nine kids met a tragic end this past weekend, his life cut short after a run-in with another motorist spiraled into violence in Castro Valley. Authorities confirmed 49-year-old Jason Elola lost his life following a brutal scuffle that erupted from what started as a fender-bender Saturday night, his own family watching helplessly as things turned deadly.
Elola had just wrapped up a birthday bash for one of his sons when the crash went down. Witnesses say his wife Gabrielle and a handful of their younger kids were crammed inside the car when tensions flared—one second, it was a minor accident; the next, chaos. By the time EMTs showed up, blood was gushing from a nasty head wound. They rushed him to the hospital, but it was too late. No coming back from this one.
The other driver—some guy named Martin Davis Jr., 37—ditched the scene like a coward, then later got cold feet and called the CHP before circling back. Cops are pretty sure it was a straight-up road rage situation, fists flying over rubber and metal. Davis got hauled off to Santa Rita Jail, though nobody’s spilled yet on what charges he’ll catch.
Elola wasn’t just a dad; dude had four grandkids too. Ran a pumpkin patch and Christmas tree farm out in Tracy, turning the place into a magnet for families all over. People who knew him said he was the glue holding his massive crew together, the kind of guy who walked into a room and lit it up, no questions asked.
