Maryland Man Runs in Stolen Camaro, Gets Caught With Stolen Guns

A Waldorf-area man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after authorities say he fled a traffic stop in a stolen Chevrolet Camaro, crashed during a high-speed chase, and was found in possession of a loaded stolen handgun.

Court records identify the suspect as Khobe Manuel Prospere David, 24, of White Plains. He was arrested Jan. 6, 2026, following a pursuit that began in Waldorf and ended with a crash and brief foot chase. Investigators say David is charged with felony motor vehicle theft, weapons violations, and several traffic-related offenses.

The investigation began earlier that morning, around 7:26 a.m., when Charles County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked behind a residence on St. Luke Drive in White Plains. Officers located a black Chevrolet Camaro bearing Maryland registration plates. A check through the National Crime Information Center showed the plates were stolen and linked to a nearby address.

Further investigation revealed the Camaro was a 2018 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 that had been reported stolen in Baltimore County on Dec. 29, 2025. Detectives established surveillance in the area.

Later that afternoon, around 3:34 p.m., officers spotted the Camaro traveling northbound on Crain Highway near Holly Lane in Waldorf. When an officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver allegedly accelerated, leading police on a chase that reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

The pursuit ended when the Camaro collided with another vehicle turning onto Substation Road, causing the stolen car to flip onto its roof. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries, according to court documents.

The driver of the Camaro fled on foot but was apprehended behind a business on Old Washington Road. Investigators identified him using a Maryland identification card recovered during the investigation.

A search of the Camaro led to the discovery of a backpack containing multiple items consistent with vehicle theft, including electronic key fobs, tools, suspected drugs, and a Smith and Wesson M&P Shield handgun with two fully loaded magazines. A records check confirmed the firearm had been reported stolen in Prince George’s County.

David was evaluated at the scene and transported to a hospital before being taken to the Charles County Detention Center. During his initial court appearance, a judge determined he posed a potential danger to the community and ordered him held without bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 6, 2026.
