The Grappler Bumper really is a neat device in police chases, as this footage of a sovereign citizen shows when she runs. The bodycam footage at the beginning of the video shows just how incredibly insufferable people who think they get to drive without a license or proper plates on their vehicle are.
Get ready for next-gen traffic enforcement cameras.
She tries claiming to be from another country, but then lets it slip she’s actually from Illinois. The incident takes place in neighboring Ohio and her accent definitely sounds like it’s not the least bit exotic.
Like so many sovereign citizens, she tries playing legal word definition games with the cops, making nonsensical delineations between words like “motor vehicle” and “car.” Sadly, these people think they’re super smart and have figured out how to game the system.
One cop even admits he doesn’t like dealing with the sovereign citizens because they’re just annoying.
But when they’re able to identify the suspect they’ve pulled over, it comes back that she has an active warrant and is considered armed and dangerous. How lovely.
Luckily, these cops not only have a cruiser with a Grappler Bumper, one of them place a Tire Terminator in front of the passenger-side rear tire. Obviously they knew this woman was a flight risk, so when she drove off suddenly, she was soon down to just three inflated tires.
Stubbornly, she flees at low speeds, stopping at traffic lights like the cops will just give up if she keeps driving. Then dispatch says she called 911 for help. Why do people do this?
Realizing she’s not going to give up, a cruiser with the Grappler comes up and snags the driver’s rear tire, bring the chase to a calm resolution.
