Corvette Destroyed After Multi-City Pursuit Ends in Fontana Crash

A high-speed pursuit through multiple Inland Empire cities ended in a violent crash early Saturday morning when a Corvette struck a tree in Fontana, California, leaving the driver hospitalized and the vehicle destroyed, authorities said.

The Pursuit Begins

According to the California Highway Patrol’s Riverside office, the incident began the morning of September 27, 2025, when officers attempted to stop a Corvette near Box Springs Road and Interstate 215. The driver refused to stop and fled, leading officers on a pursuit that reached dangerous speeds along the westbound 60 Freeway.

Chase Moves to Surface Streets

CHP officers continued following the Corvette as it exited the freeway in Jurupa Valley near Country Village Road before continuing onto surface streets. The pursuit ended near Dulles Drive and Philadelphia Avenue in Fontana, where investigators say the driver struck a railroad crossing at high speed, lost control, and collided with a tree.

Driver Hospitalized

Photos from the scene showed extensive damage to the front of the vehicle. First responders arrived quickly and took the driver into custody before transporting him to a nearby hospital with unspecified injuries.

Investigation Ongoing

Authorities have not released the driver’s identity or the reason for the initial attempted traffic stop. The California Highway Patrol says the investigation remains active and could result in charges related to reckless driving, evading law enforcement, and endangerment.

No Other Injuries Reported

No other vehicles or bystanders were reported injured during the pursuit. The area where the crash occurred was temporarily closed while crews cleared debris and investigators documented the scene.
