A late Sunday crash in Orange County turned deadly after a speeding muscle car plowed into a van, leaving two dead and two fighting for their lives. Florida Highway Patrol confirms the violent collision went down around 6 p.m. near the Rock Springs Road and Alexandria Place Drive crossing.
The 2023 Mustang—barreling south with an 18-year-old behind the wheel and a 17-year-old riding shotgun—slammed into a northbound 2021 Ford van mid-turn. That older model E350, driven by a 63-year-old Orlando man, carried two elderly passengers who didn’t make it out alive.
First responders shut down the wreckage-littered intersection while trauma teams worked frantically. Both teens were rushed to Orlando Regional in critical condition. The van’s driver survived, but his passengers—an 81-year-old and a 94-year-old—didn’t stand a chance. One died on impact; the other succumbed later at AdventHealth Apopka despite medics’ desperate efforts.
Turns out, four of them hailed from Apopka, but the vans driver was from Orlando. Investigators are now piecing together how fast that Mustang was really going—because let’s be honest, speed kills—and whether the left-turn signal played a role in this tragedy. Roadside debris and skid marks tell part of the story, but troopers aren’t spilling details yet. One thing’s clear: someone wasn’t paying attention, and now two families are shattered.
