A seemingly run-of-the-mill traffic stop on a quiet Manitoba highway turned into something far juicier—cops stumbled upon stolen car parts, wads of cash, and enough prescription meds to raise eyebrows.
Fisher Branch RCMP were doing their usual rounds Tuesday night along Highway 17 when they flagged down a suspiciously slow-moving truck hauling a trailer. Routine stuff, until things got interesting. The driver and passenger claimed they’d just swung by Peguis First Nation to grab some auto parts before heading back to Winnipeg. But when officers peeked inside that trailer? Bingo.

Stashed in there were pieces of a white Dodge Challenger, hot off the theft list from Winnipeg back in November. Cue the detective mode—RCMP dug deeper and hit the jackpot: stacks of Canadian bills and a stash of prescription pills way too hefty for personal use.
The Winnipeg duo—a 43-year-old woman behind the wheel and her 24-year-old passenger—got cuffed on the spot. Charges? Possession of stolen goods for both, with the younger guy tacking on a drug trafficking rap.
They’re out on promises to behave for now, but cops aren’t done peeling back layers. Where’d those parts really come from? Who else might’ve had a hand in this? For now, the Mounties are playing it close to the vest, keeping tight-lipped about whether more arrests are coming.
No Hollywood twists yet, but Manitoba’s highways just got a little more thrilling.
All parties are innocent unless proven guilty.
