Ford Makes Frunk a $495 Option on 2026 Mustang Mach-E

Ford is no longer including a front trunk as standard equipment on the 2026 Mustang Mach-E, instead making the feature a $495 option across all four trims. The front trunk, commonly referred to as a frunk, had previously been included with the electric SUV.

The change was first reported by Ford Authority and later confirmed by MotorTrend. According to those reports, Ford adjusted the feature packaging after determining that many owners were not regularly using the frunk space. For 2026 models, buyers who want the additional under-hood cargo insert will now need to select it as an added-cost option during configuration.

The shift also affects pricing. The starting MSRP for the 2026 rear-wheel-drive Select base model drops to $39,850, down from $39,990 for the 2025 version. However, that reduction does not fully offset the newly optional frunk. A 2026 RWD Select equipped with the $495 frunk insert totals $40,335, which is $345 more than a comparably equipped 2025 model that included the feature as standard.

Additional equipment changes apply to the 2026 Mustang Mach-E Rally. The model no longer includes its rear wing and decal package as standard. The raised rear spoiler is now offered as a $995 option. The Rally’s starting price falls to $59,735 from $60,485 in 2025, but adding both the optional spoiler and frunk increases the total price by $1,490 compared to the base 2026 model. The Rally decals are no longer available as an option.

Ford has not announced additional changes to the Mach-E lineup related to these adjustments. The updated pricing and equipment structure applies to 2026 models as they begin reaching buyers.
