Lamborghini Jalpa Runs An 8-Second Quarter Mile

Estimated read time 2 min read

Some cars are just made from the ground-up to be quick in a straight line, and we’re not just talking about purpose-built drag cars. While that’s a hallmark of American muscle, there are others like the Nissan GT-R R35 and even the Lamborghini Huracan which have proven to be beasts in the quarter mile and beyond. But the Lamborghini Jalpa isn’t such a vehicle, which makes this 8-second build so very impressive.

Check out a crazy 1933 Dodge twin turbo big block build.

Featured recently on the YouTube channel Fullboost, this car not surprisingly features an LS swap. We know, we know, some of you are automatically groaning about that. But there’s a reason why the LS is such a popular engine for making just about everything, including Mustangs, faster.

For good measure, the owner of this unique Lambo decided to add a twin turbo setup to make this thing far more ferocious. Considering it originally came with a little 3.5-liter V8 barely pushing 255-horsepower back in the 80s, this thing is nowhere near factory spec in any way.

What’s far more surprising is what’s backing up the LS with forced induction. The owner turned to Toyota for a transmission, getting one from a Camry of all things. It’s been modified with some parts stripped out of a GM Turbo 400, so this thing is truly a hybrid of sorts. That sounds weird, but you really can’t argue with the results this guy has achieved.

According to Fullboost, the guy who owns this crazy Lamborghini Jalpa has been trying to get it to run an 8-second quarter mile for years. We commend him for not giving up. A lot of people would’ve just bought a Hellcat or Camaro and built that instead, going a far easier route to posting those kinds of times.

Check out the moment this Jalpa pushes below 9 seconds at King of the Street weekend at Heathcote Raceway.
