It’s no secret road rage is increasingly becoming a problem in many parts of the US and even other countries. However, it’s a bigger issue in some states than others, with California leading the pack when it comes to road rage. Incidentally, Hawaii was ranked as having the most polite drivers in the country.
Police in Colorado are searching for road rager who shot at two separate vehicles and fled.
A new study conducted by Forbes Advisor ranked California as number one for road rage in the US, with drivers there named the most confrontational. If you’ve spent much time in the Golden State, especially Southern California or the Bay Area, you might have some insight into why so many people there have short fuses.
But not too far behind at number two is Missouri. People surveyed for the study had the highest affirmative response rate for being yelled at or threatened by another driver, a hallmark of road rage behavior.
Perhaps not shocking to people who live there, Utah landed third on the notorious list, although its score was significantly lower than Missouri’s and California’s. Still, Utahns had the highest percentage of responses claiming another driver cut them off on purpose. That of course depends on perception, but it shows how aggressive they perceive others on public roads.
What’s more, Utah claimed the highest percentage of drivers who had been blocked from merging or changing lanes by someone else as well as being on the receiving end of rude or offensive gestures. The Beehive State also came in first for the percentage of drivers who had been honked at out of frustration.
The rest of the top ten states for road rage, in order, are Oklahoma, Colorado, Mississippi, Virginia, Indiana, New York, and Maryland.
