Editorial Standards
Accuracy and sourcing
The Auto Wire reports from primary sources wherever possible: government and agency records such as NHTSA filings, court documents, public-records responses, company filings, and on-the-record statements. We name our sources and link to them so readers can check the record themselves.
Original reporting and attribution
Our articles are written by our own staff and contributors. When we build on another outlet’s reporting, we credit and link to it.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. To report an error, use our contact page. Substantive corrections are noted on the article.
Commercial content and independence
Our news and analysis are independent of advertisers, automakers, and sponsors. Shopping guides, deals, and other product recommendations are separate from our news reporting. They may contain affiliate links, which earn us a commission at no extra cost to you, and they are labeled. Sponsored content is clearly marked as sponsored.
