Rare C7 Corvette ZR1 Stolen In Southern California

A rare C7 Corvette ZR1 was stolen in Santa Clarita, California not long after it made a very public appearance. With only 2,441 ZR1 coupes made for the 2019 model year, it’s not exactly a common car, especially in Sebring Orange, so keep an eye out for this one.

Watch a Dodge Charger Scat Pack run circles around Arkansas troopers.

Sadly, less than a week before thieves stole the C7 ZR1 from a driveway in the middle of the night, it appeared in the Fourth of July Parade for the City of Santa Clarita. As a warning for enthusiasts: taking your beloved car to a parade, show, or literally anywhere can catch the eye of thieves.

You should watch for anyone following you and beware criminals planting GPS devices in hidden spots on your vehicle.

The owner didn’t realize it was gone until he walked outside his house on July 9, finding only the torn car cover and some broken glass in his Stevenson Ranch driveway, reports KHTS. Looking at surveillance footage and speaking to his neighbors, he believes the Corvette ZR1 was stolen at about 3:30 am.

Neighbors heard a car alarm but figured it had gone off on accident. This is why we recommend something like a kill switch which prevents the ignition from actuating instead of an alarm.

Hopefully, the thieves haven’t tried changing the ZR1’s appearance. A mere 614 C7 Coupes were made in Sebring Orange, making it pretty rare. Plus, the color is noticeable, standing out wherever it goes.

This ‘Vette is going to turn up sooner or later – hopefully in one piece.

If you know anything about this 2019 Corvette ZR1 or its theft, call the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station at (661) 260-4000. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
