A Florida Highway Patrol C8 Corvette that was obtained through asset forfeiture and put into service as a patrol vehicle has been recognized as one of the best-looking law enforcement cars in the country, earning attention from both the automotive community and law enforcement observers.
The Corvette was acquired at no cost to Florida taxpayers through the asset forfeiture process following a criminal case and was subsequently converted for patrol duty with appropriate emergency lighting, radio equipment, and FHP livery. The combination of the C8’s aggressive mid-engine styling and the highway patrol’s distinctive silver and blue graphics created a visually striking result.
FHP has used forfeiture-obtained performance vehicles in patrol roles before, and they typically generate strong positive public response and serve a deterrent function by demonstrating that high-performance cars used in crimes can end up serving law enforcement purposes.
The recognition generated significant social media engagement when FHP shared images of the Corvette cruiser. Comments from both enthusiasts and members of the general public were overwhelmingly positive.
The Corvette will be assigned to regular patrol duty, where its performance characteristics provide a meaningful capability advantage during the high-speed pursuits that are part of routine highway patrol work in Florida.
