Had we been this driver who has a semi-truck’s brake shoe come crashing through the windshield, let’s just say brown pants would’ve been appropriate. It takes a lot to scare us, but that would’ve definitely done the trick.
Poor C3 Corvette was buried in tornado rubble recently.
This freak accident we have so many questions about what happened on Interstate 17 north of Black Canyon City recently. Somehow, the driver was able to keep it together after the giant, heavy piece of metal punched through the windshield.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, nobody was hurt in the incident. Obviously, there wasn’t a front passenger in the crossover. The driver was covered in glass, but that was it.
It doesn’t take much of an imagination to envision how this incident could’ve been deadly. Thankfully it wasn’t.
We, like so many others who have seen this photo, really want to know how part of the brake shoe on a semi flew off like that. Did someone not bolt everything back together after doing a brake job? Was it being carried not on the hub but was just sitting somewhere on the chassis?
There’s just now way we can imagine that this brake shoe properly installed, or even mostly properly installed would fly off like that. The people tasked with investigating this case are going to have a fun time figuring all of that out.
This just reinforces our disposition to give semi-trucks plenty of space on the road. We know truckers like that because it’s hard for them to see cars that are up close and they can’t exactly stop on a dime.
Plus, you never know when some heavy piece of metal is going to come flying off a truck, impaling your windshield. Stay safe out there, everyone!
