With Ram already announcing the return of the Hemi V8 to the truck lineup, the TRX wasn’t far behind in coming back. After all, the halo model was highly sought after before Stellantis pulled the plug, an obviously stupid business decision the head honchos in Holland don’t seem to understand.
Toyota is experiencing some engineering problems with the new MR2.
But new Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa seems to have a clue, or is listening to people who do, because he alluded to the Ram TRX returning during an earnings call this past week. In that call, he said, “. . . the V-8 engine on versions such as the Ram 1500 TRX will deliver to us additional volumes.”
A lot of people and car sites automatically concluded that meant the supercharged Hemi V8 truck was back for real. But Car and Driver actually reached out to Ram and got the official confirmation instead of just jumping to conclusions.
After all, we know automotive executives, even CEOs, will say things that later don’t turn out to be accurate.
That means Mopar fans can official say, “hell yeah” about the Hellcat mill coming back into production. After all, Stellantis has been sitting on a small supply of the engines to use in the Dodge Durango Hellcats, but it’s going to have to start making more for the Ram TRX.
And that almost one hundred percent confirms the rumors we’ve been hearing of the Hellcat getting dropped into the new Dodge Charger. It will apparently be used in both the coupe and sedan versions, making it an actual muscle car.
Other than cost, we can’t see why anyone would go for a Hurricane-powered, inline-six version of the Charger, even with the twin turbos. The supercharged Hemi V8 not only sounds better, it will make the car infinitely more entertaining.
In other words, the return of the Ram TRX is a harbinger to the return of the Dodge Charger Hellcat, so all can rejoice!
