Dodge Is Testing New Chargers With Hemi V8s

As the return of the Hemi V8 to the Dodge lineup gets nearer, we’re hearing more and more about the change. While some naysayers seem to believe Dodge engineers can’t shoehorn a Hemi in the new Charger, we keep hearing that’s absolutely not true.

Ram gets some brutal criticism.

Adding to that are multiple sources saying Dodge right now is testing multiple Chargers, both of the coupe and sedan variety, with the Hemi V8 powering them. This has been going on for a bit, but the testing is intensifying.

We’ve been told before the return of the Hemi to the Charger is coming this fall, although no exact date has been supplied. If that’s accurate, it makes sense why Dodge is more aggressively testing out the powerplant in the new models.

Further validating all the news we’ve been hearing for months about the full Hemi line returning to Mopar has been the Hemi V8 coming back to the Ram 1500 lineup for the 2026 model year. Even though that’s out in the open now, there are some people who are still denying it will happen so soon with Ram or Dodge.

Stellantis knows Dodge and Ram were both cash cows before the former CEO, Calos Tavares, started messing with a successful formula out of pure hubris. The response from shoppers has been swift and decisive.

With so much on the line, it’s no wonder the auto giant is scrambling to make things right. Ram even came out with an apology commercial to tell its fans how wrong it got things. That and the return of the Hemi V8 is the beginning of rectification.

But we expect to still hear from armchair quarterbacks who just “know” the Hemi V8 can’t fit in the new Charger.
