Toyota has announced a recall of over 590,000 vehicles across both Toyota and Lexus brands due to a malfunctioning display screen that could prevent key warning indicators from appearing when the car starts.
Nissan Recalls Over 173,000 Vans
The recall includes select Toyota Crown, RAV4, GR Corolla, 4Runner, Camry, and Highlander models, along with Lexus LS, RX, and TX vehicles. Toyota has not yet specified the affected model years; those details will be confirmed once the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) releases its official recall notice.
At the center of the issue is a 12.3-inch digital display panel that may remain blank upon ignition. If this occurs, drivers could lose access to crucial malfunction indicators, including warnings about system errors, tire pressure, or engine problems.
“If malfunctions occur while driving, continuing to drive could lead to an increased risk of a crash or injury in the event of a crash,” Toyota said in a statement announcing the recall.
Toyota plans to notify owners by mail in mid-November, advising them to bring their vehicles to a dealership for inspection. Dealers will inspect, repair, or update the faulty display system at no cost to customers.

The company is urging owners who notice blank or unresponsive display screens to contact their local Toyota or Lexus service centers immediately rather than waiting for the mailed notice.

This latest recall adds to a growing list of electronic and software-related issues affecting automakers, underscoring how increasingly complex infotainment and driver-assist systems can introduce new safety challenges even as they improve convenience and technology integration on the road.
