Toyota has issued a recall affecting more than 590,000 vehicles across both the Toyota and Lexus brands due to a display screen malfunction that could prevent important warning indicators from appearing at startup.

Which Models Are Affected
The recall covers select Toyota Crown, RAV4, GR Corolla, 4Runner, Camry, and Highlander models, along with Lexus LS, RX, and TX vehicles. Toyota has not yet specified exact model years, and those details are expected once the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issues its official recall notice.
The Underlying Issue
The problem centers on a 12.3-inch digital display panel that may remain blank when the vehicle is started. If this occurs, drivers could lose access to important malfunction indicators, including alerts related to system errors, tire pressure, or engine issues. “If malfunctions occur while driving, continuing to drive could lead to an increased risk of a crash or injury in the event of a crash,” Toyota said in its statement announcing the recall.
Repair and Notification Process
Toyota plans to notify affected owners by mail in mid-November, directing them to schedule an inspection at a dealership. Dealers will inspect, repair, or update the display system at no cost to owners.

What Owners Should Do Now
Toyota is urging owners who notice a blank or unresponsive display screen to contact their local Toyota or Lexus service center immediately rather than waiting for the mailed notice. Customers with questions can also reach Toyota’s Brand Engagement Center at 1-800-331-4331.
Part of a Broader Trend
This recall adds to a growing number of electronics and software-related recalls across the auto industry, reflecting how increasingly complex infotainment and driver-assistance systems can introduce new safety considerations even as they add convenience and functionality.
