Tensions exploded into tragedy Thursday night when a routine dash up the tollway spiraled into bloodshed near Frisco High School. Cops hauled in 45-year-old Jason Bartik from Celina after he allegedly gunned down 34-year-old Plano resident Robert Taylor in a school parking lot. Bartik’s own 911 call tipped officers off—said some guy had been riding his bumper, so he slammed the brakes to teach the guy a lesson.

Witnesses say the clash kicked off on the Dallas North Tollway before spilling into the school grounds. Bartik swears he ducked into the lot just to shake Taylor off. No dice. The other guy barreled after him, stormed up to his window, and clocked him right in the jaw. Then—bang bang. Cops, stationed practically next door, scrambled over fast but couldn’t save Taylor.
Joseph Neagoth, who manages a jewelry store across from the school, said he initially thought the flashing lights were from a car crash. “I never thought of the gun side,” he said.
Lindsey Stanley, a licensed psychotherapist, said violent reactions on the road often stem from deeper emotional triggers. “Even if you can just create 30 seconds of space between what’s activating you and how you react,” she said, “we’re going to make a different decision.”
Bartik’s cooling his heels in lockup now, staring down a murder rap.
