Four Dogs Recovered From Stolen Car

Far too often, stolen car stories end with disappointment if not outright tragedy, but this isn’t one of those times. Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office in Oregon was able to recover four dogs along with a stolen vehicle, making for an eventful night.

According to the sheriff’s office, the incident in question went down on just after midnight on August 3. Deputies noticed a Toyota Camry with no front plate and plastic in place of glass on the rear windows. Running the plate, they found it didn’t belong to the Camry, so they initiated a traffic stop.

Thanks to dispatch, detectives knew the Toyota was reported stolen back in June even though the driver insisted it belonged to a friend of hers. They arrested her and called for a wrecker to haul the vehicle away. Usually that’s about where these stories end, other than maybe some court proceedings, but there was the wrinkle of four little doggos inside the stolen car.

In some situations, the canines would’ve been handed over to animal control. But these deputies decided to be more humane, allowing the suspect to call a friend to pick them up. After all, it’s not the dogs’ fault their owner was rolling around in a stolen Toyota.

The dogs sure are cute and don’t appear to show signs of neglect, so we hope they’re well cared for by the friend and eventually the owner, whenever she gets out of jail. Alternatively, the dogs would’ve gone to a shelter and from there who knows what might’ve happened to them. So nice work, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

Hopefully the Camry isn’t too damaged and the owner is able to get any repairs needed reimbursed by the insurance company.
