Is nobody safe from crime?
You know things are bad when celebrities like Reggie Jackson get their car stolen. The baseball legend took to Instagram on August 30 to get the word out that some thieves swiped his 2022 Dodge Charger Hellcat Widebody. Hopefully it’s recovered soon.

According to Jackson, the Mopar muscle car was stolen at about 4:45 pm on August 29th while it was parked in downtown Houston, Texas. Unfortunately, this sort of thing has become quite common in that and other cities around the US, Canada, Europe, Australia, etc. Yet so many people think it will never happen to them.
Jackson said the car believed to have been used in the theft of his Hellcat was a blue Ford Focus with temporary paper plates. Those paper tags are favorites of criminals since they can be easily fabricated, making it next to impossible to trace a vehicle. Texas has outlawed paper tags, but that law won’t go into effect until July 2025.
We’re trying to spread the word because nobody, Reggie Jackson included, should have to endure someone taking their car. In the photos, you can see the Hellcat still has the splitter guard attached. We’re not judging Jackson here, but the thieves might have removed it by now.
Hopefully the Hellcat is still in one piece. If so, we wouldn’t be surprised if it’s out of Texas and either in Mexico or a few states away. There aren’t too many vehicles just like this one and since the car has been reported stolen, running the VIN should reveal the truth of its legal status.
This case also serves as a great reminder that taking some extra steps to secure your ride, including installing aftermarket devices that make starting it more difficult, as well as GPS trackers for finding it if someone does steal it, are great things to do now. Everyone thinks this sort of thing won’t happen to them until it does, then it’s too late to do anything about it.
