Dog Kidnapped In Stolen Truck Later Dies

It really shouldn’t shock anyone to learn that car thieves are truly selfish individuals. With rare exception, they don’t care who or what they hurt so long as they get what they want, which is your vehicle. A family in Calgary, Canada found this out the hard way when their three-year-old German Shepherd named Rosco was kidnapped when someone stole the family’s truck.

Watch all hell break loose after a stolen car plunges off an embankment.

Sadly, Rosco was later found injured on the side of a road. He had been hit by a car. A Good Samaritan took the German Shepherd to a veterinarian, but it was sadly too late. Rosco was yet another casualty in the growing car theft trend in Canada.

As covered by the CBC, Rosco was inside a Toyota Tundra which was parked outside the family’s house in Lakeview SW, Calgary on the morning of October 25 when someone stole the vehicle and the dog. His family offered a $5,000 reward for his safe return, however it seems whoever stole the truck decided to just drop the pooch off on the side of a road.

The family has asked that their beloved dog be dropped off at a vet’s office or shelter, no questions asked. But most car thieves aren’t known for being considerate. After all, many of these criminals have decided stealing cars from people at gunpoint is much easier than breaking into and starting them without the keys. Sometimes that ends with one of the victims or all of them being shot.

As dog owners ourselves this story makes us furious. But we see stories like this all the time. We wish people would understand car thieves aren’t stealing a loaf of bread to feed their family, they’re not “noble bandits”, and they certainly don’t care about your or anyone other than themselves.
