We expect this footage of an Arkansas trooper doing a PIT maneuver on a fleeing motorcycle to not please everyone. Some will celebrate the move because they believe too many riders behave as if they’re above the law. Others will cry about how reckless it was of the trooper.
Kid on a Honda Grom tries outrunning police.
Quite a few people think police can’t do a PIT maneuver on a fleeing motorcycle, limiting their options for riders who run from the law. Others believe cops shouldn’t PIT bikes because it’s more dangerous than pitting a car. Everyone can hold their own opinions, no matter how strong they are, because this trooper did it anyway.
The trooper was just sitting on the side of US Highway 78 when the sport bike came flying by at about 80 in a 60 mph zone. It would’ve been an expensive ticket but probably just that. However, instead of pulling over and taking the punishment like a man, the rider decided to take off.
And he really took off, going over 130 mph in a desperate escape attempt. We always wonder why people do this sort of thing. Are they fugitives running from the law? Are they carrying millions in illegal drugs?
We learn afterward this rider doesn’t have a license or insurance for his bike. That’s it. And apparently escaping those consequences is worth risking his life.
He really rips down the highway, the trooper trailing behind. But some turns in the road slow him down, allowing the trooper to catch up. After one of those turns, the suspect slows down to about 35 mph and the trooper pounces, pitting the bike, throwing the rider to the road.
For those still crying, the Arkansas State Police report indicates our suspect refused medical treatment at the scene, so he wasn’t injured in the PIT maneuver, other than his ego getting bruised.
