Kentucky Dealership Fixes Teen’s Problem-Plagued First Car for Free

A Kentucky car dealership stepped in to help a teenager stuck with a problem-plagued first car, repairing the vehicle at no cost after learning about her situation through local news coverage.

A Troubled First Car

Bryleigh Allen, 17, had been driving a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic that her mother, Emily, purchased “as-is” from Kentucky Car Exchange back in January. The vehicle turned out to have significant issues, including a mileage discrepancy of nearly 30,000 miles between the odometer and the title, along with oil leaks and shuddering at stoplights.

A Dealership Steps In

After local station WKYT covered the Allen family’s story, Dan Cummins Auto Group in Paris, Kentucky, offered to take on the repairs. The dealership had no legal obligation to get involved, since the vehicle had originally been sold “as-is” by a different dealer, but chose to bring the Sonic to its shop and fix the issues at no charge to the family.

A Welcome Outcome

With the repairs completed, Bryleigh got her car back in working condition, turning what had been a frustrating first-car experience into a story with a positive resolution thanks to the dealership’s willingness to go beyond what was required of them.
