The incident happened at about 5 pm on September 3 at a time when the Sunrise Highway is normally packed with traffic. However, the vehicle that launched off a hill after losing control on a surface street sailed through at just the right time, finding a break in traffic for all six lanes.

Multiple reports confirm the driver of that missile of a car is a 70-year-old man. Authorities haven’t identified him and they might never do so.
We do know the car in question is a Honda, we’re guessing an Accord from the dashcam footage.
According to an ABC News report, the man suffered a seizure while driving, which is what caused him to lose control of the vehicle. We’re guessing he pressed on the accelerator during the medical episode, which gave the Honda enough momentum to fly over the entire highway.
Bay Shore Fire Chief John Ippolito Jr. said the stretch of road the man was traveling on has a 30 mph speed limit. He theorized the Honda had to be going much faster before launching off the hill.
The driver who captured the incident on his dashcam told News12 “It looked like a meteor going across the highway. At first I didn’t know it was a car.”
We can only imagine how shocking it would be to witness something like that. Then after you process what you saw, you’d realize you were just feet from likely dying.
Instead, everyone survived and the man who launched his car is hopefully getting the medical attention he needs.
