An Oklahoma woman was arrested on Valentine’s Day after police stopped a stolen Dodge Charger in Tulsa and uncovered methamphetamine and stolen license plates inside the vehicle. Authorities said the traffic stop occurred around 7:30 p.m. on February 14 when an officer pulled over the Charger, driven by 19-year-old Rainy Gilbert, at a QuikTrip gas station.
According to Tulsa Police, before the officer could fully exit the patrol vehicle, a male passenger jumped out of the Charger and ran into the convenience store. Gilbert followed him on foot moments later. The officer pursued both individuals into the store and then into a nearby neighborhood as they continued to flee.
Police reported that during the foot chase, the male suspect jumped a fence and escaped. Gilbert was unable to clear the fence and was taken into custody. Investigators determined the Dodge Charger had been reported stolen. Officers also located stolen license plates and methamphetamine connected to the vehicle.
Gilbert was booked into the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of stolen property related to the license plates, and eluding police. Authorities indicated efforts are ongoing to locate the male suspect who fled the scene.
The investigation remains active as police continue working to identify and apprehend the second suspect involved in the incident. Gilbert remains in custody while the case proceeds through the court system.
