An Oklahoma woman was arrested on Valentine’s Day after police stopped a stolen Dodge Charger in Tulsa and turned up methamphetamine and stolen license plates inside. Authorities say the traffic stop happened around 7:30 p.m. on February 14, when an officer pulled over the Charger, driven by 19-year-old Rainy Gilbert, at a QuikTrip gas station.

A Foot Chase Into a Convenience Store and Beyond

According to Tulsa Police, before the officer could even fully exit the patrol vehicle, a male passenger jumped out of the Charger and bolted into the convenience store. Gilbert followed on foot moments later. The officer chased both of them into the store and then out into a nearby neighborhood as they kept running.

During the chase, the male suspect managed to clear a fence and escape. Gilbert wasn’t able to make it over and was taken into custody on the spot. Investigators determined the Dodge Charger had been reported stolen, and officers also recovered stolen license plates and methamphetamine connected to the vehicle during the stop.

Charges and an Ongoing Search

Gilbert was booked into the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center on charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of stolen property tied to the license plates, and eluding police. As with any pending case, these charges represent accusations that have not yet been proven in court.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to track down the male suspect who escaped over the fence. The investigation remains active as police continue working to identify and apprehend him, while Gilbert remains in custody as her case proceeds through the court system.
