Shitty deal.
Authorities responded to the chaotic scene, where vehicles spun out of control due to the slick conditions caused by the leaked waste. Fortunately, there were no major injuries reported during the mayhem that occurred on Monday night on Interstate 95 in Bridgeport. The truck driver has been arrested on multiple charges, as it is alleged that he was aware of the leak but continued driving.
A Missouri cop has been found guilty in a fatal Dodge Hellcat crash.
The series of wrecks started shortly after 11 p.m. when the leaking waste created extremely slippery conditions in the northbound lanes, according to state police reports. A motorcyclist lost control and fell onto the road, sustaining minor injuries that required hospitalization. Numerous vehicles collided with each other and concrete barriers as they struggled to maintain control on the slick surface.
In a separate incident, another tractor-trailer skidded into a parked state police cruiser, which subsequently struck a second unoccupied cruiser in the median. Both cruisers had been parked there while troopers were assisting other motorists involved in accidents.
State police records indicate that a total of 10 vehicles were involved in the series of wrecks. As a result of the extensive cleanup required, the northbound lanes remained closed for several hours.
Following the incident, witnesses provided information about the company name visible on the truck, allowing troopers to locate the driver. Authorities contacted the company, H.I. Stone & Son, who in turn reached out to the driver and instructed him to pull over and wait for the police.
The truck driver now faces charges of reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and failing to secure a load. He has posted bail amounting to $25,000.
As the investigation progresses, updates will be provided by law enforcement regarding any additional findings or actions related to the incident.
