It’s rare that we see a police chase involving a minivan, but usually they don’t end well for the suspect. But to see someone in an older Honda Odyssey outrun the mighty Arkansas State Police, that’s both impressive and concerning. After all, those things aren’t exactly hotrods.
Minivan hit-and-run aftermath is shocking.
What’s worse, the driver reportedly is wanted for a parole violation. Like so many people who run from the law, he has an active warrant for his arrest and he’s willing to do anything to not get taken in for justice.
We just wonder why if you’re on the lam would you be driving one of the worst getaway cars possible? Is it all the guy could afford? Minivans typically aren’t the cheapest options out there, although they’re not super expensive, either.
Even though we see plenty of police chases involving suspects in grocery getters, we think there are some good reasons why few of them are in minivans specifically. For starters, minivans just aren’t as popular as they used to be.
They’re also typically driven by women. Criminals who run from police are usually male and often younger, so they’re not exactly taking the kids to soccer practice, then swinging by Costco.
Plus, most people in a minivan just don’t dare try testing their limits in a police chase. But this guy has no problem throwing this thing through turns, catching air as he blows through stop signs, and swerving all over the road as a trooper tries taking him down.
We’re guessing this suspect has experience running from police, because he seems to know what he’s doing. He’s able to get out of view from the trooper, then disappear in the maze of streets. Perhaps he even had somewhere nearby to ditch the minivan out of sight because as troopers and local police comb the area, they find nothing.
