A Lexus IS driver learned a hard lesson while running from police in Wisconsin at high speed all while not buckling up. While we don’t really understand why people run from police, it seems like putting on your seatbelt would be the first thing you want to do in that situation.
Cyclist vandalizes a car, then suffers instant karma.
Of course, we always wear our seatbelt, even for short drives. You just never know what might happen, especially with crazy drivers like this guy out there.
In the dashcam footage, we see state troopers and sheriff’s deputies hunting at first for the Lexus. Multiple people called 911 to report the speeding car, saying it was passing on the median and shoulders while going an estimated 140 mph.
As you might imagine, police don’t like hearing that because reckless driving at high speeds can lead to a serious, possibly even a fatal, crash.
They quickly locate the suspect vehicle as it slows down and tries to pretend nothing happened. But once the suspect driver realizes he’s been made, he drops the hammer and tries taking off.
Try is the operative word, because the little Lexus struggles to pull away from the gutless police Ford Explorers. That’s sad. Because of that, we suspect it was an IS 200t or maybe a 250.
But the guy seems to think what he can’t do with raw power he can with superior handling. For sure, the Lexus turns tighter and stops faster than the police cruisers, but the cops are better trained at pursuits.
Still, the guy tries stopping suddenly and weaving, we guess thinking that will save him. All that does is allow more cops to catch up. Desperate, the suspect pushes the Lexus hard one last time, blasting through a turn at over 100 mph.
But he can’t handle it as the IS careens off to the shoulder, then rolls multiple times. Leaving a 200-yard debris field in its wake, the car rests on its roof, unoccupied. As for the suspect, he was thrown free, thanks to not wearing a seatbelt, and didn’t survive the landing.
