Georgia Authorities Locate Dodge Challenger Used In Jailbreak

Estimated read time 2 min read

People in Georgia and surrounding states have been on edge since four inmates escaped from the Bibb County Detention Center in the early hours of October 16. A new lead has surfaced after investigators located the dark blue Dodge Challenger that reportedly helped those men escape.

Watch a suspect destroy a car during a police chase then laugh after.

On the evening of October 20, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office made the official announcement, releasing an image of the Mopar muscle car on the back of a wrecker. It had been located in the parking lot of a plasma donation center in Macon.

In other words, at some point the four men and their accomplice ditched the Dodge, probably realizing everyone was on the lookout for it. That and most law enforcement sadly just expects someone in a Challenger is a criminal.

Authorities are desperate to find the escaped inmates, offering a total of $73,000 for their capture. That’s good money and quite frankly more tempting than the lottery, if you know anything about where they might be.

Those rewards are being offered by an array of organizations, including the FBI and U.S. Marshals. Considering these men are dangerous, with Joey Fournier in jail for murder and Johnifer Dernard Barnwell being held for the U.S. Marshals, it’s easy to see why all the fuss.

We think it’s most likely the Dodge Challenger used as a getaway car in the jailbreak was stolen considering criminal elements often have the tools necessary to swipe Mopars and the fact they like how fast they are if things turn into a chase, combined with the fact that using your own vehicle to commit any crime is just plain foolish.

If you have any information about the Dodge Challenger in the photo or any of the four escaped inmates and their accomplice(s) please do the right thing and contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME. That reward money would be enough to buy a nice Challenger of your own.
