There’s something about Corvette drivers lately we can’t quite figure out. Perhaps it has something to do with the release of the C8, but it seems ever since about around then we’ve seen an increase in crazy crashes and other shenanigans involving the ‘Vette crowd. The latest one is a C7 Z06 Corvette which exploded during a single car accident in Florida.

Chinese national kills someone with her Porsche 911 and flees the US.

Yes, it appears Florida Man has struck again in a Corvette. While this incident didn’t seem to appear cooking meth while driving or giving a gator a ride somewhere, it does involve the C7Z veering off the road, “clipping” a power pole, then doing its best impression of a Formula One racecar.

The incident went down on the morning of November 18 in Marion County. First responders had to extricate the driver, with the sports car reportedly hitting the power pole on the driver’s side. News Nation reports the C7 Z06 driver, a 38-year-old man from Ocala, was thrown from the car.

He was reportedly racing a Ford Mustang and was driving recklessly, making sudden lane changes when he hit a Toyota Prius, sending the Corvette careening off the road. That’s when the sports car made contact with the power pole.

It’s pretty obvious from the photos shared by Marion County Fire Rescue that the driver was in serious condition. He was declared a “Trauma Alert” and rushed to a hospital.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the driver of the Mustang parked behind a local business and walked over to check on the other man. He’s described as a “heavy-set white male with arm tattoos.” That sadly really doesn’t narrow things down, although images of the man’s tattoos might help identify him.

Don’t street race, kiddies!
