Mustang Driver Brags To Police About Hitting 170 MPH During Chase

Some people’s egos are just so large they can’t help but brag, even if that means giving the police additional evidence of their crimes. That seems to be the case with a 20-year-old Mustang driver in Indiana after he boasted to police about hitting 170 mph during a chase once he had been caught.

Drunk man crashes a Mustang on his birthday.

Before that, police knew he had been going well over 100 mph, reports Fox 59, but he just went ahead and volunteered that information without even being compelled. Now that’s impressively dumb.

The report indicates the chase, which started in Daleville, Indiana on State Road 67 back on March 23, began when a Daleville officer clocked the Mustang going 84 mph in a 55 mph zone. When the officer tried pulling him over, the guy really punched it.

At a certain point, the officer’s superior told him to end the pursuit. The suspect reportedly almost lost control of his pony car several times, plus was blasting down the shoulder and into oncoming traffic in an attempt to get away.

Police also tried spiking the tires, but those attempts were unsuccessful.

However, as the suspect continued on at high speeds, eventually hitting a curb and disabling his vehicle in Anderson. The original lead pursuing Daleville officer had followed the path of the pursuit even though he slowed down and arrived just as a Madison County deputy was fighting on the ground with the Mustang driver after tasing him.

It was after authorities got the 20-year-old into custody that the kid started shooting his mouth off about how fast he was going. His attorney sure isn’t going to like that.

At least for now, the suspect was able to bond out of jail and walks free. But he might be facing some stiff consequences in part because he couldn’t keep his mouth shut.
