A man in Columbus, Ohio believes his 2020 Dodge Charger Scat Pack which was recently stolen is now being used in illegal street races. The guy says he has evidence which indicates that’s exactly what it’s being used for and he wants to get the muscle car back.

What initially led to the victim’s conclusion about street racing was receiving an alert his Mopar was taken in for an oil change just days after it was stolen, reports WSYX. The reporter spoke with Columbus police who confirmed it’s common for stolen muscle cars to get their oil changed right before they’re taken to a street takeover, which many journalists and even some law enforcement call street racing.
It makes sense since doing burnouts, donuts, and other stunts that long puts tremendous strain on the engine, not to mention the drivetrain. After all, the thieves want their ill-begotten ride to last for a while so they can have plenty of fun, not blow the motor only a few minutes into impressing all their “friends.”
With a new law into effect in Ohio, police are clamping down on street racing and street takeover events. In fact, they descended on one illegal gathering earlier this month, arresting almost 200 people and impounding just shy of 70 cars. Unfortunately, this man’s Scat Pack wasn’t among them.
He seems pretty deflated about the whole thing, telling the reporter he’s unsure if he’d buy another muscle car if his Charger isn’t recovered. We get it, having your ride stolen like that is frustrating and violating. But we hate to break it to him that the truck he’s now driving is also a prime target for thieves.
They even go after crappy Kias and Hyundais with vengeance. The problem is car thieves have gotten away with too much for too long and that has to change.
