Nampa, Idaho isn’t the type of town we’d expect to be the scene of a wild Dodge Challenger crash, but one recently landed on the roof of a house. Sadly, this isn’t the first crash of this type we’ve covered, clearly demonstrating that in the hands of the reckless, cars can become airborne missiles of destruction.
Watch a teenager doing donuts crash into a house.
In this case, a 31-year-old man died in the crash, which happened just after 9 am on December 1. Two others from the car were hospitalized. Two houses were damaged and left without power from the freak accident.
According to Idaho News 6, the driver of the Mopar muscle car was speeding, tried negotiating a residential street curve, and ended up going off the road. A berm in a front yard launched the vehicle into the air.
The Challenger vaulted one house, demolishing the top of its chimney and the power mast before it crashed into the roof of the house next door. Thankfully, the woman who was inside the second house was unharmed, although we’re sure the crash more than frightened her.
That second house where the muscle car landed was left with significant damage. Firefighters put plastic sheeting up to keep the elements out of the interior, but it’s going to take a lot of work to make the structure whole again. Some neighbors apparently also lost electrical service.
Inside the Dodge were the driver and two passengers, with the front passenger declared dead at the scene by first responders. Exactly what led up to the crash isn’t clear, but there’s zero mention of street racing or intoxication in the report.
Reckless driving, especially at high speeds in a high-powered car, comes with certain costs. Sometimes those costs are steep, like in this case. Residential streets are most definitely not the place to be juicing your ride and hot dogging around.
