We admittedly have a weakness for the S550 GT350, so when this 2017 appeared in an online listing our interest was piqued. After all, that flat plane-crank Voodoo V8 sounds so haunting ethereal and provides more than enough power to have a blast on the road or track.
An airplane lands on an interstate and a traffic pileup ensues.
This particular pony car is black over black, so it’s appropriately menacing in its appearance. Plus, the current owner says he’s kept everything factory spec. It can be hard finding one of these that hasn’t been modified in some rather… interesting ways.
With 88,000 miles on the clock, this 2017 Shelby GT350 is listed for a flat $40,000. Sounds great, doesn’t it? There’s just one catch, something we suspect some will think is no big deal but will make others run for the hills.
At 48,000 miles this Shelby had its engine replaced. We know, that’s a huge red flag for some, but others will say the engine only has 40,000 miles on it, so they’ll see that as a plus. In the listing, the owner states there are “zero oil consumption issues.” He also notes he just had a new PCM valve installed along with a fuel temp sensor.
The guy even posted a video in the listing showing the GT350 ripping a sick burnout on the road. We suspect opinions about that move will also be split. But the guy makes it clear he “didn’t buy it to look at it.” Cars were made to be driven and it’s refreshing to see people actually using their performance ride instead of treating it like a piece of fine art.
But is this the Shelby GT350 of your dreams? Would you want to buy this pony and roast its tires? Or would you keep looking for a different one? Let us know what you think.
