Three young adults in the Bay Area of Northern California died in a horrific, fiery Cybertruck crash which left the community shaken. As police noted, the blaze was intense by the time officers arrived, towering “about twice the height of the car.” What a way to go.

A violent road rage case in Los Angeles might have begun as a domestic disturbance.

One passenger survived the crash, which happened right before Thanksgiving, pulled to safety by a friend who came across the wreck. Unfortunately, the other three weren’t so lucky. We can’t imagine the grief the families are feeling nor what the survivor and the kid who saved him are experiencing.

Initially, police said speed was a factor in the Tesla crash. The Cybertruck was wedged between a tree’s trunk and a retaining wall when it burst into flames, the mangled stainless steel body panels and other charred remains left as the vehicle was dragged onto a wrecker after police processed the scene.

The California Highway Patrol launched an investigation immediately following the fatal crash. However, that’s turned into a federal investigation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration looking into what led up to the incident.

It seems speculation is the Cybertruck might have had Full Self-Driving or Autopilot activated at the time of the wreck. That would explain why NHTSA is involved since it investigates all automated driving crashes.

While CHP is leading the investigation, Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers told CBS News there’s no indication of a mechanical failure with the Cybertruck or that the batteries contributed to the fire. We’ll see if that remains consistent once the investigation reaches a conclusion, because we have trouble believing that fire was fueled by something other than the batteries.

As for the survivor of the crash, he’s still in a medically induced coma at an ICU. He reportedly suffered severe burns.
