A dealership in Cleveland, Ohio recently caught on fire, the building completely engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived on scene. The blaze was so overwhelming that the initial first responders called for double the crew as they took up a defensive position, acknowledging the business and the classic cars inside were a total loss.
Stalled car on the highway leads to a big accident.
It’s always sad to see classic cars destroyed, especially when a whole company and multiple families’ livelihood also goes up in smoke. After all, replacing those rides as well as everything else is going to be difficult, maybe even impossible.
Less valuable cars kept on the lot were for the most part untouched by the tragedy. That’s ironic considering the dealership no doubt housed the other rides inside to protect them from damage as well as theft.
One of the fire officials who spoke with local station WKYC understood that it wasn’t just the financial loss of those classic cars that made the situation so bad. He said the vehicles burned inside were “probably priceless to the people that owned (them).”
It’s the sentimental value that drives a lot of people to care for their classic rides, even the ones not worth all that much on the open market. That makes the fire all the more tragic as all those memories are now lost, even if the owners could technically replace their old ride with the same make and model.
Of course, whenever a shop that has fuel, solvents, and other flammable materials in spades catches fire, the flames spread quickly. We don’t know what started this blaze or where in the dealership it originated, but undoubtedly those items helped it overtake the building before firefighters could even begin knocking it down.
