Ford recalls Lincoln Aviators for literally falling apart.
The collision took place in Jefferson, Maine on Friday, June 20. The driver of the Mitsubishi was making a left hand turn on a two-lane road, apparently not seeing the little red convertible Corvette as it was coming the opposite direction, reports the Penobscot Bay Pilot.
As a result, the front passenger corner of the crossover hit the front end of the ’69 Corvette dead-on. You can see from the photos of the aftermath the classic sports car was far more mangled, which isn’t a shock.

Your daily driver is loaded with not only three-point seatbelts and airbags, it was engineered with crumple zones and reinforcements made to protect you in the case of a head-on collision, T-bone, etc.
We know when you’re behind the wheel of your hobby car, it’s easy to just get caught up in the moment and how good it feels, becoming blithely unaware of your surroundings and potential dangers until it’s too late.
We’re not saying that’s what happened in this collision.
Authorities don’t know what led to the crash. It seems the Mitsubishi driver just plain didn’t see the Covette. The sheriff’s office says drugs and alcohol don’t appear to be factors in the accident. But the investigation is ongoing, so it’s not clear what conclusions will be reached by the time it’s concluded.
