The rate of carjackings in Washington, DC have dropped a whopping 87 percent since President Trump took action in the capital. That figure comes straight from the mouth of Mayor Muriel Bowser, as she was forced to admit to the media that crime has plummeted across the board since federal law enforcement flooded the city.
This Ram TRX owner thought his truck could outrun any cop.
Before that, carjackings were all too common, as even members of Congress fell victim to kids with guns taking people’s keys. It’s been an issue for some time, including cases of kids as young as eight carjacking victims.
Interestingly enough, as the New York Post reports, Mayor Bowser says carjackings have dropped the most out of all crime categories. Why that would be is open to speculation, but it’s safe to say the kids and adults who were doing carjackings are now too scare to show their faces.
In fact, there have only been four carjackings in the city since the surge in federal law enforcement. During the same period in 2024 there were 31 carjackings, so the difference is vast.
If you don’t believe the carjacking problem was all that bad in Washington, DC, just know that from 2018 to 2023, the total number of those crimes committed in the nation’s capital continued to increase.
While it went down in 2024, the problem didn’t exactly go away, just it wasn’t as bad as the all-time record. Last year, 496 carjackings were reported, more than triple the total number back in 2018.
Showing that nobody was safe, back in 2023 not only was a member of Congress among the carjacking victims in the city, so was an FBI agent.
But Mayor Bowser isn’t entirely happy about how President Trump has attained these results, complaining about National Guard troops brought in from other states and the presence of “masked ICE agents.”
Trump has said he will do the same thing in other cities where crime is rampant, like Chicago and Los Angeles. We can’t wait to see federal officers smack down some street takeovers.
