A shocking photo taken by Wyoming Highway Patrol shows a Dodge Durango’s front end impaled by a sport bike. We’ve seen some bad motorcycle accidents in our day, both in person and online, but this one is up there as far as the level of crazy in the aftermath. After all, it’s not every day you see a Yamaha stuck in the front end of a Dodge Durango.

According to Wyoming Highway Patrol, on the night of August 26 the motorcycle rider slowed down while traveling on Horse Creek Road or WY 211 to make a left turn to turn onto Frentheway Road. The Durango driver approached from behind but failed to see the motorcycle until right before impact.
The sport bike not only stayed upright, it stayed in one piece while the front bumper, front fascia, grille, and other parts on the Dodge crumbled. It’s almost like the Durango is made of graham cracker.
Somehow, the rider of the Yamaha YZF-R6 not only didn’t die but is expected to recover from unspecified injuries. That seems like nothing short of a miracle.
After all, what usually happens in these sorts of crashes is the rider and the bike either go under the SUV, leading to serious or fatal injuries, or the rider is thrown and either run over by another vehicle or hits something else, like a barrier, suffering serious or fatal injuries.
While in this crash the rider did sustain serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital by ambulance, he was wearing a helmet that WHP credits for saving his life. He should probably also thank Dodge for not making the front end of the Durango more solid back in the day.
WHP is looking into driver fatigue as a primary cause for the crash. Sadly, this situation shows how even if you do everything right while on a motorcycle, a driver who isn’t can turn your life upside down, if not take it.
