Chevy Silverado Intentionally PITs Out Florida Trooper

We’ve seen some aggressive suspects in police chases before, but this Chevy Silverado doing a PIT maneuver on a Florida trooper is new. Sure, suspects have tried ramming police and pulling other moves, but a PIT is something far more technical. And to pull it off, that takes practice, even for cops.

Watch a fleeing suspect get brutally pitted into a concrete wall.

The suspect was originally caught speeding, going 98 mph in a 70 mph zone. When the trooper observed the speeding initially, he also saw the guy was weaving through traffic. You can see that on the dashcam video.

As the trooper caught up, the put on the lights and sirens on his clearly marked Florida Highway Patrol cruiser, the Silverado driver speeds up and keeps swerving around slower traffic. It’s obvious the guy has zero intention of pulling over.

Pathetic as it is, the guy actually tries ditching the trooper. The problem is he can’t out-accelerate the FHP Dodge Charger and definitely can’t outmaneuver it.

Then a second FHP Charger comes speeding up. Perhaps sensing a PIT maneuver is coming, the suspect gets aggressive, swerving  to sideswipe the cruiser, mangling its push bar in the process.

The two keep going at it, angling and maneuvering in a modern day jousting session when the suspect takes his full-size truck and rams the rear quarter panel on the Dodge, pitting it out most brutally.

But lacking training, our suspect does serious damage to his truck. The biggest problem is his front passenger wheel shears right off, causing the Chevy to list to that side like a sinking ship.

Thankfully, the suspect didn’t kill the trooper. He’s also lucky the trooper didn’t open fire. Hitting a cop with your car is a great way to eat a lead sandwich.

Instead of stopping, the guy goes full lizard brain and keeps driving on three wheels. Either his axle, the truck’s frame, or maybe both are dragging on the pavement as he doggedly pushes on the accelerator. If given enough time, that will catch the Chevy on fire.

Thankfully, an unmarked Charger comes in and finally PITs the Silverado out, ending the chase. After arresting the suspect, they found empty liquor bottles and used marijuana blunts, so it seems intoxication might have been a factor.
