Ford’s Mustang GT3 secured its first outright win at the Nürburgring, marking a significant milestone in its racing program.
A Come-From-Behind Victory
Haupt Racing Team claimed the win during a four-hour NLS endurance race, climbing from 10th position to first with drivers Vincent Kolb and Frank Stippler behind the wheel. The team nearly missed the race entirely after a mechanical issue threatened to sideline the car the day before the event.
A Late Repair Makes the Difference
Multimatic, Ford’s racing development partner, completed repairs in time for the car to compete. Kolb and Stippler navigated traffic and changing track conditions throughout the race to secure both their class win and the overall victory.
Team Reaction
“In the end, it was a flawless team performance that made this victory possible,” said Ulrich Fritz, managing director of HRT. “We are overjoyed about this historic success because it shows that we are on the right track in our development program together with Yokohama.”
A Growing Competitive Presence
The Mustang GT3 currently competes across multiple major series, including IMSA, GT World Challenge, and FIA endurance racing. After some early competitive struggles, the car has increasingly become a consistent podium contender, drawing growing interest from racing teams internationally.
A Statement for Ford’s GT3 Program
The Nürburgring win represents a significant moment for Ford and HRT’s ongoing development program, signaling that the Mustang GT3 is becoming an increasingly serious contender in top-tier sports car racing.
