YouTuber WhistlinDiesel Charged With Tax Evasion Over 2020 Ferrari Purchase

YouTuber Cody Detwiler, known online as WhistlinDiesel, was arrested and charged with tax evasion in Williamson County, Tennessee, following an indictment tied to his purchase of a 2020 Ferrari F8 Tributo. Detwiler, 27, has built a large online following by destroying high-end vehicles and heavy equipment on camera, amassing more than 10 million YouTube subscribers and over 5 million Instagram followers.

Details of the Charges

According to the Tennessee District Attorneys General Conference, Detwiler faces two counts of tax evasion connected to a January 2023 transaction involving the Ferrari. Prosecutors allege he willfully attempted to avoid paying state sales tax in an amount of $500 or more. A Williamson County grand jury returned the indictment on November 5, and Detwiler was released on a $20,000 bond following his arrest.

Detwiler’s Response

Detwiler shared footage of the arrest on Instagram, showing deputies arriving at a residence along with his handcuffs, booking documents, and mugshot. In his caption, he stated he had done nothing wrong and suggested the charges were connected to his success. As with any pending criminal case, the charges are allegations, and Detwiler is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Background on the Vehicle

The Ferrari at the center of the case is one of many exotic vehicles Detwiler has featured in his content, which often involves pushing vehicles and equipment to their limits or intentionally damaging them for entertainment. His stunts routinely draw millions of views, making him one of the most recognizable figures in automotive content online.

What Happens Next

Detwiler is scheduled to be arraigned on November 19 in Williamson County. Authorities have not released further details about the scope of the investigation or whether additional charges could follow.
