Fatal Hit And Run Caught On Doorbell Camera

Every once in a while, we find a car-related crime so disgusting we just have to stop and think about the current state of humanity. While we think most people generally try to do what’s right, there definitely are people who just don’t care, choosing instead to just watch out for themselves. That seems to be what happened in Prince George’s County in the Washington, D.C. area on October 21 when a man hit and killed another man, then pulled his body off her car before driving away.

The whole thing was caught on a doorbell camera, neighbors realized after 28-year-old Franklin Mendez was found dead in the road the next morning, say police. How someone could treat another human this way is inconceivable.

According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, Mendez had gotten into an unrelated car accident two miles away from where he was killed. After the man got out of his vehicle, probably to inspect the damage, he was hit by what appears to be a 2011 to 2017 gray Honda Civic.

The suspect in the hit and run drove the two miles while Mendez was stuck in the car’s windshield before stopping and pulling his dead body off, then leaving the scene. That was on Ardwick Ardmore Road.

Sadly, the doorbell camera footage isn’t super high quality, so the stills police shared are pretty grainy. But you can see there’s some sort of large white sticker across the top of the back window on that Honda Civic. That, combined with damage to the windshield and passenger-side of the front bumper, as well as probably the hood and fender should make this car stand out.

Even if you accidentally hit someone, running and dumping the body is never the right thing to do. We hope the person responsible realizes they need to step up and take accountability for their actions, or that someone who knows about this does the right thing.
