Missouri Woman Accused Of Shooting Two People Inside Burning Dodge Challenger

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned?

St. Louis Police claim a Missouri woman chased down a stolen Dodge Challenger, which crashed and caught fire, reports The Kansas City Star. But what’s really shocking is the accusation she shot the two people inside the muscle car as it burned, something police say was driven by revenge.

The details of this case are even more disturbing, but they help paint a picture of the growing problem of people taking the law into their own hands after dealing with swamped law enforcement agencies. This is something we’re seeing more of in 2023 and sadly it looks like these types of revenge killings of car thieves could be on the rise.

According to the report, the 32-year-old woman was driving with three kids in her vehicle through Jennings, a St. Louis suburb, when he she spotted the Dodge Challenger she immediately recognized as her sister’s car. The muscle car had been stolen the day before.

Instead of calling police, who often just take such information and don’t devote resources to chasing the stolen vehicle, she decided to try forcing the Dodge to stop. A chase ensued and at some point the Challenger hit a truck at an intersection, flew off the road, and caught on fire.

Pulling up to the wreckage, the woman produced her gun and fired at the two people inside the muscle car before they could get out, striking them. One of the pair returned fire, but it sounds like they missed the woman and thankfully didn’t hit the kids.

Officers responding to the chaotic scene eventually found the woman’s gun tucked in a purse hidden in her vehicle’s trunk. Officials won’t say anything about the condition of the people who were shot, but we at least know they didn’t die.

Now, the woman who chased down the stolen car is facing a string of charges: first-degree assault, armed criminal action, and endangering the welfare of a child. Her bail is a whopping $750,000.

While we don’t agree with what she did, we understand why people are so frustrated as car thieves barely get a slap on the wrist in many jurisdictions and are turned out on the street to steal more vehicles. Just remember, if you meet out any justice yourself the consequences will be severe.
